I like the ingredients, the fact that it is made to EU standards and no corn, wheat or by-product meals. That’s not to say it is grain free -which I wasn’t looking for- just free of wheat and corn which are fairly common allergens for dogs. Chicken is the primary protein. The dogs like this food and the kibble is about a medium size -good for dogs of small-medium and up. Protein is listed at 21%, which to me is good for a house dog in terms of enough, but not too much energy. I have a male greyhound here with kidney issues that needs to stay on a lower protein food, and this is just within acceptable for him. The lower calories, sea mussels, and glucosamine are also pluses for a senior dog, especially one that used to race.Beet pulp is fairly high on the list and though this ingredient is not without some minor controversy (undeserved in my opinion), it is a staple to those of us who have experienced dogs with loose stools (like so many ex-track dogs, and or dogs with digestive issues and parasites). Beet pulp (and tomato pomace) helps bind stool and keep things moving along, expressing anal glands along the way and preventing a number of problems associated with chronic loose stool.

Ordered this senior dog diet and a regular one. My dog (he is a senior), doesn’t really like it. Something in the food makes him less willing to eat it. But he loves the regular one. Go figure.

All 5 pups agree, this is good food. I rescue and I have to feed what’s available. This makes for very adaptable pups but als I pucky ones for some reason. There are some foods they just won’t touch.We have a few variations of this dog food and the recues adore it. Out of the three samples, this seemed to be the favorite. They can be picky at times but devoured it before I finished filling the bowl. The list of ingredients is good but I don’t have a lot of product to be able to determine its effectiveness . I can tell you, it’s extremely palatable and even picky dogs like the taste ao it should be easy to feed most dogs. Pretty good.

She’s not been a picky eater, but I think in old age pickiness is growing on her.As a result, she was—let me just say it—a little finicky about this Best Breed Senior Dog Diet.I’m sure it’s not the food’s fault. It looks to be a quality, low-fat menu item for older canines. I’m evaluating it and recommending it as such. Just don’t ask my dog.

I got this for my friend’s dogs to supplement with their other food. All three dogs enthusiastically ate this. As you can see, they are spoiled by being hand fed.The food itself is small and round. This is made in the U.S.A. (i.e. Ohio) but I am unsure where the ingredients are sourced from. The ingredients are good and the first 14 are chicken meal, brown rice, oatmeal, sorghum, dried beet pulp, tomato pomace, chicken fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), brewers yeast, natural chicken flavor, flax seed, Menhaden Fish Meal, calcium carbonate, lecithin, kelp meal, etc.I love that the bag has a zippered closure. This ensures that the kibble stays fresh. The current price of $13.99 for 4 pounds is reasonable.

Our senior Maltese has been on a weight management diet for some time now. She gets regular exercise but she’s less active as she used to be. This product is made of good ingredients and is made in the USA. These 2 factors are very important to me because I value the health and well being of all our animal companions.Just as important as having a product that’s suitable for our overweight fur baby is that she likes this dry dog food. She definitely appreciates this product. I feed this to her together with her wet dog food in appropriate serving proportions. Our dog still has to shed the pounds and providing the right food and activity is what’s good for her.

My dog is not that fond of the taste, so I mix it with about half of their regular food and he is fine with it. This is a good brand with decent ingredients.

Dogs went wild for this food, the gobbled it up. Really good quality ingredients with lots of fruit and veggies and glucosamine and fiber. Comes in a small 4lb bag. Wow! I’m so excited that there is a decently healthy food for dogs at a decent price. We already spend about 54 dollars a bag on Taste of the wild, which is roughly around 20 pounds of food, this dog food is relatively close in price comparison, and I love that they offer a senior dog food! We have a 10 year old husky, who is at a great weight, but had gained a few pounds in the last year, and I think ita because she just doesn’t metabolize the food like she used to, this brand gives us the option for something that suits her lifestyle needs now, and I love it! Its wheat free, which our dog is allergic to, so that’s a plus, I would love to see a senior food that completely grain free, but I really cant complain. The pieces are a small and circular. Our dog gobbled it up. Would recommend!

The ingredients are pretty good. This is a well made dog food for senior dogs. My only problem is that once again…Athena isn’t impressed.The other dogs love it though. Neither one of them wants to eat their food at this point…they now just wait until they get the chance to eat Athena’s food….because her food is just better.Like with all dog foods…the key is finding the right high quality food that your dog likes…this could very well be the perfect food for your dog…heck, two of my dogs love it!

I have a Weimaraner who is a little overweight. She sniffed this and immediately started eating the kibble. She really liked it. She even licked the bowl. I did notice a little weight came off of her and she did not seem to be overly hungry and begging for treats. (My husband indulged her with treats but that has stopped.) She is not obese but needs to lose a few pounds only and this is a good choice for those who have dogs that are fighting a little extra weight.

Best Breed Senior Dog Diet (Reduced Calorie) Made in USA is the first time that I have tried feeding my girls a reduced calorie senior dog kibble.The guaranteed analysis for this kibble is : 21% crude protein, between 7% and 9% crude fat, 4.5% crude fiber and 10% moisture. It contains 371 calories per cup. The main ingredients include: chicken meal, brown rice, oatmeal, sorghum, dried beet pulp, tomato pomace followed by a long list that doesn’t contain anything that I tend to avoid giving my dogs. It is easy on their digestive system.My oldest is a rescue estimated to be about 10.5 years old and a very picky eater. She does prefer chicken flavor to any other but will walk away from anything that doesn’t appeal to her despite coaxing. She was very slow to start eating this kibble since the smell of it must not be that enticing. However, once she tasted one, she quickly started crunching away and finished the whole dish. She acted the same way on subsequent feedings.My other rescue is about 5 or 6 years old and, while not a senior, is a foodie that has to constantly be watched. She is even fed in a separate room since she gulps her food and will quickly go after her sisters’ meals if either of them pause to take a breath. She did this morning and I didn’t have to put up her bowl so the other wouldn’t pig out.The pieces are small, but my older girls ate it pretty slow.
